ABOUT US

Powerhouse is a feminist, queer, neurodiverse creative company specialising in theatre and short film. We are committed to amplifying female and non-binary voices in unexpected ways that creates a space of reflection, challenge, and contemplation. It is our mission to start a conversation - not one that necessarily leads to a consensus, but one that allows people to get used to one another and the variety of challenges that shape our realities.

Claudia Vyvyan

(they/them) 
Founder, Creative Director, Resident Writer

Claudia is the Founder, Creative Director and Writer for Powerhouse. They are a London-based writer , educator and theatre maker recently focussed on radical fiction and revolutionary imaginaries.​

​

Claudia is motivated by political collaboration and creative adventure in storytelling with the aim to join, uncover and amplify other misrepresented and systemically silenced voices. Author of 'Awaken the Feminine Divine' an anthology, Claudia was shortlisted for Hope Mill Theatre's 'Through the Mill' national playwriting competition with 'We're Few and Far Between' which debuted at the White Bear (2022). Claudia writes short films, plays, poetry, fiction, short stories, and social theory.

Claudia graduated with a Senior Academic Scholarship from the University of Cambridge specialising in Education, Policy and Transnational Sociology.

Flora MacAngus

(she/her)
Co-Founder, Managing Director, Lead Actor

Flora is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Powerhouse Performances C.I.C. She has worked in the creative industries for 5 years, as an actor, writer and producer both in the UK and Internationally. Flora was the lead actor for four runs of Powerhouse's debut one person play 'Permanent Marker' which received 5 star reviews. 


As a Channel Islander, Flora continues to develop the creative scenes in the Channel Islands having directed her first short film 'Infinitely You' which was filmed through the Kino Project in Jersey CI. 'Infinitely You' was selected to open the 13th Parish film festival.  


Flora is a University of Cambridge graduate and specialises in the transnational sociology of Education.
